More rain
03.11.2017
We woke up to another day of rain! Debi’s housekeeper, Mebo, came this morning. She comes in three days a week and does all the dishes, sweeps and does laundry. It’s important to support the local people.
Debi and I decided to go to the cultural heritage center today. The roads are so terrible, it is just amazing! I can’t explain it, it has to be experienced. We spent our time in the extensive gift shops and I did my Christmas shopping. I splurged on some jewelry but they weren’t expensive. We had lunch there. I had a masala fish. Yummy. After lunch we realized that we didn’t actually see the museum but we will have to come back. We then went to a newly built mall. It was beautiful and had a movie theater and shops. The grocery store had everything so we picked up some groceries and then headed home. We had a break and then prepared to go to dinner at the home of their neighbor and landlord, mark and Linda Jacobson. Mark and Linda have lived in Arusha for 35 years. Mark is in charge of the hospital in Selian. They invited us and a group of young doctors doing a portion their residency here. It was an interesting experience. Great conversation. Linda has prepared fajitas and everything was delicious. The power went off about 5 times during the evening but they were prepared and had candles all over! It actually looked very romantic! It was a lovely evening and I finally got really sleepy.
